Manicures and Pedicures are done so easily at any salon at all. But be careful and check if the instruments are sterilised before they use it on you as it can carry hepatitis B virus. Also do check if the towel they as using is washed and clean. Did you know that the hepatitis B virus can survive in nail polish as well and infect you through broken skin?

WHAT IS HEPATITIS?
Hepatitis B is an infection of the liver that causes scarring of the liver which can end up in failure and cancer. It spreads by contact with blood, body fluid and open wound of a person with the infection. The disease is transmitted through sex, Sharing needles and accidental needle stick injury.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS?
Jaundice
Fever
Fatigue
Abdomial Pain.
Patients can also be Asymptomatic till 6 months after catching the virus. People usually find this out through blood test. HbsAg is the blood investigation that has to be done to rule out Hepatitis B.
